ANN JUSTIN BENEFIT DINNER

Today, June 9th, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm, friends and family of Ann Justin will be holding a benefit spagetti dinner. Ann has been in the hospital but is now home recovering. There is a $10.00 donation, dinner includes salad, spagetti, roll and dessert. We look forward to seeing you there.

A RACE WEEKEND !

Oh the parties ! The North Channel Offshore Challenge enticed folks to come on out and enjoy the weather and the races. North Channel Drive was packed with race goers both on Saturday and Sunday, food was plentiful and the view was unsurpassed. Saturday the preliminary runs were great to watch but the races on Sunday were the best ! The helicopters flying fast and furious over the course were almost as exciting to watch as the boats. Late in the races on Sunday, the David Brian Jewelers boat flipped over after hitting a wake on the turn, it was a sight to see and we are all glad the drivers were okay. The Harsens Island Fire Boat was the first boat on the scene. Enjoy the pics below, click to enlarge. We can't wait until next year !

MURAL DEDICATION AT HARSENS ISLAND SCHOOL

The students at Harsens Island Elementary school, with the assistance of their art teacher, Mrs. Donna Russell, designed and created clay tiles depicting Harsens Island Wildlife. The tiles were glazed and then put together to create a spectacular mural which is now permanently affixed to the front of the school building. On June 4th the mural was unveiled and a small ceremony was held. It was very touching and the students were thrilled with the response they received from all the parents and friends who attended the ceremony. I have included photos below, but if you get a chance, stop by the school and have a look at the mural, it is absolutely beautiful.
Also, a new "Alumni Tree" was planted to replace the former tree which was removed some time ago during renovations.
