PICKEREL TOURNAMENT QUEEN

Harsens Island resident Melissa Sauer was chosen this past May, out of 16 applicants, as one of four young women vying for the title of Pickerel Tournament Queen. The Algonac Lions chose the four ladies based on their applications and one-on-one interviews.

Melissa Sauer is the daughter of Judy Rawski and Mike Sauer, she will attend Oakland University this fall to study nursing. She has some tough competition as all four candidates are well accompolished and goal-oriented young ladies.

All four candidates will be presented this evening, Thursday, July 1st, on the stage at the Algonac Lions Pickerel Tournament Festival. Voting will take place from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, the queen will be crowned on stage at 7:30pm.

5:00PM	Grand Opening, Kids Parade, Baby and Pet Photo Contest Begins.
5 - 11PM	Midway Rides - Pay $15/wrist band
5 - 7PM	Voting for Pickerel Tournament Queen and Court at Stage
5 - 10PM	K of C Bingo in City Park
6:00PM	Children's Street Parade at IGA lot
6:30PM	Children's Parade - Prizes awarded at stage
7:00PM	Snoopy's Dog Show
7:30PM	Crowning of Queen at stage

ANNOUNCING THE HARSENSISLAND.COM PHOTO CONTEST

That's right folks, Harsensisland.com will be sponsoring a monthly photo contest beginning July 1st. Submit your Harsens Island photo (information provided below) by July 15th, it will be displayed and voted upon by our readers, there will be a First Place winner, Second Place winner and an honorable mention. Winners will be announced by July 30th and will receive prizes of $25.00 for 1st place and $10.00 for 2nd place as well as being displayed on the harsensisland.com website throughout the summer.

Any photos submitted after July 15th will be included in the August Contest, all August entries must be submitted by August 15th.

The Harsensisland.com website averages hundreds of visits per day, if you are an amateur photographer, this is the place to have your photos viewed, if you're just submitting your photo for the heck of it, it's a great place to send your family and friends to view your pics.

Harsens Island is the place to capture beautiful photos, sunsets, nature, kids, pets, families, local events, etc. PLEASE keep your photos to a G rating, any photos submitted which are not appropriate in nature will obviously be disqualified.

Here are the rules:
You must be the owner of the photo or have expressed permission to submit the photo into the contest.

Photos may be color or black and white.

Photos can be submitted either by postal mail or email.

Postal Mail: Photos will be scanned and uploaded by the harsensisland.com staff, photo quality may be diminished by this method.

Include: Name, Address, Phone Number, and description of photograph, i.e., location, date, subjects, events, etc.

EMAIL: Email all photos to scoop@harsensisland.com. Photos MUST be in either a jpeg or gif format no larger than 800 by 600 pixels. Please include reply email address, name and phone number, as well as a description of the photograph, i.e., location, date, subjects, events, etc. Photos submitted in a format other than jpeg or gif will not be submitted.
